About Us
Running For Roz was originally a fundraising project created by Chris and Sara Lange as a way to honor a fallen friend. The initial plan was to try and raise funds in anticipation of a single race, but over the months, it has developed in to much more. Many of Roz's friends have joined the ranks, and we now have an ongoing series of races at which one of our runners will be participating.

Ellie Abrams
Ellie Abrams knew Roz since they were about 4 and 5 years old—when her childhood speech impediment caused her to call Roz “Wozzie,” which is how Ellie's dad still refers to Roz. The two girls remained friends through high school at John Burroughs. Ellie now lives in Chicago, where the running culture is huge. She has run one half-marathon in the past, and is debating whether or not to run a second. When she learned about Running for Roz, she knew she had to commit to running a race. |

Joe and Elaine Adams
Elaine and Joe graduated from the Air Force Academy in 2005 and married this April. They frequently bumped into Roz while transitting to and from the gym and athletic fields after school, always noticing her warm smile and easy going personality. |

Megan Adams
Megan Adams was also a classmate of Roz at John Burroughs School. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, with a BA in psychology and history. She has already run the Air Force 10k in honor of Roz. |

Sarah Baker
Sarah Baker is a close friend of Chris and Sara Lange. She met them both at Washington University where she majored in Marketing and International Business. After graduation, Sarah moved to Washington, DC where she and Sara Lange were colleagues at the Corporate Executive Board. Sarah ran her first 10K in the fall of 2008 when she and Sara Lange completed the Marine Corps 10K. Since then Sarah has completed several races in the Washington, DC area. |

Bobbi Binder
Bobbi Binder is Bruce Cohn's aunt. She never had the chance to meet Roz, but knows from her nephew Bruce what a wonderful woman she was. Roz taught him the meaning of love. He spoke about her often and about his plans with her after they were done with their tour in Hawaii. |

Lucy Buchholz
Lucy Buchholz also attended John Burroughs School with Roz, and went on to graduate from Tufts University. She is in her third year in a clinical psychology doctoral program at George Mason University. Lucy ran the Army 10 miler with her sister Joanna and boyfriend Steve in October in Washington, D.C. Lucy also will be running in the National Half Marathon in DC in March 2010 in memory of Roz and remembering her courage, compassion, intellect and athletic success. |

Josh Carroll
Roz and Josh were both accepted into the MAJCOM internship program out of Intelligence Officer School. The program enabled them to get to know one another as they moved to various units around base to gain experience. Together they were both assigned to DGS-5 as Mission Operation Commanders. Josh says he's "...never worked with a more honest, dedicated or compassionate officer. She was by far the best and most liked officer in our squadron. Outside of work we we often talked about current events, fitness and of our favorite sports teams." |

Holly Chernushin
Holly 'Sammons' Chernushin is married to Vincent Chernushin and is mother of a 20 month old boy, Kobe. She is a 2006 graduate of the Air Force Academy with a B.S. in Management and Chinese minor. She is currently serving Active Duty as a Weapons Systems Cost Analyst. Roz and Holly were roommates from Day 1 of basic training at USAFA until the end of Doolie year in Viking 9. Holly ran the Marine Corps Marathon in October 2009 in honor of Roz. She remembers "...how much Roz hated running yet she always pushed through and helped others along the way. If it weren't for her, I would not have finished Freshman year so I owe her more than she ever knew." |

Kara Domareki
Kara Domareki attended Intelligence Course at Goodfellow AFB, TX with Roz. She met up with Roz and another good intel friend in Hawaii just before Roz deployed to Afghanistan, and was blown away by how happy, cheerful, and in love Roz seemed! She is thrilled to run the Air Force Half Marathon in Roz's honor in Sept 2010. |

Zach had the pleasure of knowing Roz through his girlfriend Janie Mackey, one of Roz's closest friends at JBS. |

Ishanti Holmes
Ishanti has served in the Air Force for eleven years as an EngineerAssistant in Civil Engineering. She is currently stationed at Minot AFB in North Dakota, and is originally from Pass Christian, Mississippi. Being the sole female on the 9-man team deploying to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan in late January 2009, Ishanti first met Roz after the first of the year at Combat Skills Training at Fort Lewis, Washington in the female quarters. Although they were in different classes they became fast friends just goofing around and talking during down time in their dorm. Ishanti remembers "…everyone listened to her when she spoke, she got me hooked on the show "Dexter", and she would change out my ice pack and bring me food when I was stuck in bed with a severely sprained
ankle." They kept in touch throughout the whole deployment and had plans to meet up at Bagram the very day she passed. |

Addison Huber
Addison Huber was a classmate of Roz in the U.S. Air Force Academy's class of 2006 and is a friend of the Langes and Sarah Baker. He is currently in his first year of the Masters of Public Administration program at George Mason University. Addison will run the Marine Corps 10k in memory of Roz. |

Celia Jarratt
Celia was a friend and lacrosse teammate of Roz's at the Air Force Academy. She graduated in 2005 with a degree in Geography and is a navigator in the Air Force. She got married this summer and currently resides in Albuquerque. Her husband lives in Las Vegas where she'll run the Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon in December. Celia ran the same marathon last year and is training to set a new personal record this year as she runs in memory of Roz, someone who always pushed herself to achieve her best. |

Chris Lange
Chris was a classmate of Roz's for six years at John Burroughs School in Ladue, Missouri. Like Roz, Chris was an All-State Athlete (in baseball), and over their years in school together, they became great friends. They graduated together in 2002, at which point their paths split. Roz headed to the Air Force Academy, while Chris remained in St. Louis to attend Washington University. He majored in Marketing and Finance at the Olin School of Business and was a member of the varsity baseball team all four years. In 2007, Chris married his wife Sara (see below). They currently reside in Arlington, VA. |

Sara Lange
Sara Lange is married to Chris. Upon hearing the news of Roz's untimely passing, Sara wanted to do something to honor her. Always impressed by Roz's courage, athleticism, and determination, she decided she also wanted to push herself to the next level and tackle a race that will test her own athleticism and fortitude. |

Jon Laurion
Jon is an Air Force Civilian on the PACAF Staff. He met Roz when she started working at PACAF/A2. To remember Roz, he is going to run 20 miles on the 20th of every month, or as close as he can, starting May 20th and every 20th of the month after that for at least a year, maybe longer! |

Steven Leibowitz
Steven Leibowitz is dating Lucy, a graduate of John Burroughs School, who always spoke of her classmate Roz with the highest regard. Steve had the privilege of actually meeting Roz once, in our nation’s capital, and was instantly captivated by the inspiration and warmth of her personality. He will be running the SunTrust National Half Marathon in Washington DC proudly to honor Roz’s memory. |

Rebecca has been close friends with Sara Lange since they were in high school in Washington D.C. She is currently pursuing her masters at Georgetown University in Art History and Museum studies. |

Janie Mackey
Janie and Roz first met on the softball field in middle school and went on to be high school classmates, teammates, and best friends. Living only a few doors down from one another, they spent countless days goofing around together after school and during summer breaks. They shared a mutual love for Kraft Mac n. Cheese, Spaghetti-O’s and Lois and Clarke. Upon graduating from John Burroughs School in 2002, Roz went off to the Air Force Academy and Janie attended Middlebury College in Vermont. Now living in San Francisco, CA, Janie has put down her field hockey stick after playing at Middlebury and taken up triathlons.. |

Cecil Medina is a 1986 graduate of the Air Force Academy. While he never met Roz, he was touched by her story and the show of support and admiration by her friends and family. |

Lindsey Melander
Lindsey is dating Todd Schulte - Roz's older brother. She ran the Marine Corps 10K in October to honor Roz, and remember her as a beautiful and brave woman who was always up for a challenge. Roz always pushed herself to the limit and Lindsey hopes to do that as well - she plans to keep training and plans on running a marathon in 2010. |

Cheryl Moore
Cheryl arrived to Hickam July 2007 and went to work at DGS-5 where she worked at the same squadron as Roz. Cheryl and Roz shared a love of exercise and had an interest in International Relations in common. They also worked together on a base-wide volunteer project for the National Bone Marrow registry. Cheryl will be running the Xterra Trail Running World Championship half marathon. |

Chrissy Mott
Chrissy graduated from the USAFA in ’04, and had the privilege of playing lacrosse with Roz for 2 years. Anyone who ever crossed lacrosse sticks with Roz knows she was a tremendous athlete and fierce competitor, but Chrissy also remembers her as being fun-loving, extremely intelligent, and absolutely putting her whole heart into everything she did. Chrissy currently lives in Boulder, CO, but will soon be reassigned to Misawa, Japan. |

Teresa Moreno
Teresa had the opportunity to mentor Roz when she was a four degree in CS09. Teresa was very happy to get to know Roz, become good friends, and later work along side her over the next 2 years at the Academy. Teresa remembers Roz always had a positive attitude and drive which she reflected in everything she did. Teresa is proud to Run for Roz and remember the great life she lived. For all of her friends and loved one's,Teresa is honored to keep her memory alive with every step she take in the races to come. |

Shannon Murphy
Shannon met Roz in 4th grade when they started playing soccer and basketball together. They became teammates once again in high school at Burroughs playing field hockey, basketball and, of course, lacrosse. In fact, Shannon only decided to play lacrosse because Roz asked her to and she never wanted to let Roz down. Shannon and Roz became very close friends in high school and were quite a team on or off the field (though off the field you would most likely find them eating together, probably in sweatpants). After graduating from Burroughs, Shannon went to college at Duke University and then went on to law school at the University of Chicago. She now is a legal aid attorney. |

Branon Painter
Branon graduated from Duke University in 2006, where he double-majored in Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering. Shortly thereafter he moved to Washington, D.C., where he was reunited with Sara Lange, a friend from high school, and introduced to Chris Lange and Sarah Baker. |

Siobhan Porter-Lleras
Siobhan (Shevawn) served with Roz in Afghanistan. The day Siobhan landed in the United States, 20 May, was the same morning she got the phone call about Roz being KIA. Siobhan is currently a SSgt in the Air Force and an alumni of Rutgers University. She is running to honor the memory of her LT. |

Lisa Reinhardt (Salinas)
Lisa M. Reinhardt (Salinas) has served in the United States Navy for 7 years and recently returned from a 14 month tour in Kabul, Afghanistan where worked with Roz in CSTC-A CJ2. Lisa says "There isn't a day that goes by where I do not think about Roz, she has truly inspired me in all aspects of my life." Lisa will be running a 5K in November and will slowly work up to run a half-marathon in Roz's honor.

Lori Safer
Lori Safer, who is Bruce Cohn's aunt, met Roz in Spring 2009 when she came through Seattle before deploying to Afghanistan. She felt an instant bond with Roz and was looking forward to spending more time with her when she returned. Lori is an avid bicyclist. |

Kate Sauerhoff
Kate met Roz in 3rd grade at Conway Elementary and they followed each other through to Burroughs. They played basketball and swam together throughout middle school and parts of high school, sharing a love of sports and quickly becoming friends. Kate currently lives in LA and attends boot camp style workouts regularly, thinking of Roz often. As a way of emulating Roz's inherent toughness and love of a challenge, Kate is doing the Camp Pendleton 10K Mud Run in June 2010. She feels it's something Roz would have loved.

Merrilee Seidman
Once a Marine Always a Marine-Semper Fidelis (always faithful). Merrilee began running while in the Marines and enjoyed leading the platoon in running chants at Parris Island South Carolina and throughout her service time. She has run 15 marathons (starting in 1979) as well as many 5Ks, 8Ks, 5 milers, 10Ks, 10 milers, and half marathons. She didn't know Roz, but she knows what it means to be part of the a military unit and be a leader dedicated to the mission at all costs. |

Chrystina Short
Chrystina played lacrosse with Roz at the Air Force Academy. A year behind Roz, Chrystina looked up to Roz as a role model in many areas. Chrystina also majored in Political Science with Roz. She is running the Marine Corps Marathon in honor of Roz which ironically, finishes in an area of Washington D.C. called Rosslyn. Chrystina has never run a marathon but is inspired by Roz's spirit to push herself in all areas, and to take on challenges that seem insurmountable. BTB! |
